Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aquarium Tour Comes to Audubon Aquarium
Familiar characters from one of the world’s most popular video games are coming to New Orleans’ Audubon Aquarium this summer as part of an innovative partnership with Nintendo of America. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the most popular and highest-selling games in the world, and its connection with aquarium animals makes this a natural fit for Audubon Aquarium, Nintendo of America, and those who enjoy experiencing both.
Starting June 21, 2024, and running through September 14, visitors to Audubon Aquarium will have the opportunity to enjoy characters from the video game while exploring animals of the natural world. Nintendo of America is partnering with Audubon Aquarium in a first-of-its-kind traveling exhibit that showcases animals in real life at the riverfront attraction and animals they encounter while playing the game.
“Animals that some players have only encountered in the wildly popular Animal Crossing: New Horizons game have counterparts at Audubon Aquarium,” said Rich Toth, Senior Vice President and Director of Audubon Aquarium. “The Aquarium Tour is a fun experience that fuses the two worlds and highlights the diversity of marine life. While guests are here, they’re entertained and also learn about conservation efforts, including actions we can all take every day to help ensure an abundance of marine life for generations to come.”
The Animal Crossing: New Horizons exhibit at Audubon Aquarium will include several exciting features available to the public and Audubon members, including:
· Animal Crossing: New Horizons photo opportunity, featuring an aquarium-themed background with characters from the game.
· A My Nintendo kiosk that allows gamers to check in and earn 100 Platinum Points during their visit redeemable on my.nintendo.com for exclusive digital and physical rewards.
· Themed creature descriptions presented by Blathers with information directly from the game.
· Standees of familiar characters from the game throughout the Aquarium near a wide variety of habitats.
· Special Animal Crossing: New Horizons merchandise in the Aquarium gift shop
