Audubon Aquarium Ranks in 10 Best Aquariums in the U.S. According to Travel and Leisure Magazine

Travel and Leisure Magazine recently ranked the 10 best aquariums in the U.S., and Audubon Aquarium of the Americas ranked third among them. The nine others included Monterey Bay Aquarium, New England Aquarium, Shedd Aquarium, Georgia Aquarium, Seattle Aquarium, New York Aquarium, National Aquarium, Alaska SeaLife Center, and Oregon Coast Aquarium.

“Audubon is proud to be ranked alongside some of the best Aquariums in the country,” said Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Audubon Aquarium of the Americas Rich Toth. “We believe that every person who comes through our doors has the power to impact the natural world for the better, and we are committed to engaging and educating them about the wonders of nature and encouraging them to take action to protect them.”

Recently, the Aquarium opened Shark Discovery, a new 13,000-gallon shark and ray touchpool. The new pool measures approximately 60-feet-long by 16-feet at its widest point—six times the size of the Aquarium’s previous stingray touchpool. A massive LED screen running the entire length of the pool features a variety of sharks, rays, and fish to highlight the diversity of the ocean.

Earlier this year, Audubon Aquarium ranked sixth in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Travel Award contest.

The Aquarium is open Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information and tickets visit https://audubonnatureinstitute.org/aquarium

From Travel and Leisure:

“There is another world under the sea, and you don't need to embark on a snorkeling vacation or diving adventure to experience the wonders of the ocean floor. The U.S. is home to some of the best aquariums in the world, which means to see marine animals and habitats up close, all you have to do is plan a day trip.”
