Audubon Nature Institute Statement on Dr. Norman C. Francis

On behalf of Audubon Nature Institute, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr. Norman C. Francis.

New Orleans and the nation have lost an important and influential voice with his passing. As a strong and effective advisor, Dr. Francis inspired generations of students, elected officials, and community leaders through his wisdom, integrity, and unwavering commitment to education. His keen understanding of New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina helped guide the city’s rebirth and strengthened its resolve during one of its most challenging chapters.

We are deeply grateful for his involvement and dedication. His enduring legacy in the power of education and the unifying strength of community will continue to shape New Orleans and inspire future generations for years to come.
