Audubon Zoo Animals Announce Forecast
Move over Punxsutawney Phil, Audubon Zoo in New Orleans has lively new weather forecasters.
Faced with the decision of forecasting a long winter or an early spring, both of Audubon Zoo’s newest residents made their official announcement this morning.
The prognosticators made their forecasts separately, and both seemed certain of their proclamation. Capybara Turkey and Sequoyah each proclaimed six more weeks of winter is in our future.
This is the first time Audubon Zoo has turned to its capybara for weather forecasts. Six-year-old Turkey and her mate, five-year-old Sequoyah moved to New Orleans late last year…so perhaps they aren’t too sure about the weather here. This is the first southern spring for this pair, native to South America, they came to Audubon Zoo from Springfield Missouri to be part of the new Jaguar Jungle River’s Edge opening next month at the Zoo.
