Audubon Zoo Welcomes New Sea Lion

There’s a new arrival making a big splash at Audubon Zoo this summer.  Audubon Zoo recently welcomed “Missy”, an eight-year-old California sea lion to the Zoo’s sea lion colony.

The Zoo now has three female sea lions in its colony, Missy joins two14-year-old sea lions named Roux and Zoey.  Missy came to New Orleans from California and is adjusting to being to being a New Orleans lady. Her keepers say Missy loves taking naps and sunning herself in the afternoon. They say she is incredibly smart and really enjoys participating in training sessions with her keepers and investigating new things in her habitat.

Visitors to Audubon Zoo can chat with the sea lion keepers regularly on the weekends, and guests can enjoy seeing the girls swimming and training daily.
