Audubon Zoo's Capybara Forecast Early Spring
Three young capybara born in 2025 at Audubon Zoo are doing the official weather forecast this year. In true New Orleans style they made their pick by showing interest in food… either gumbo for more winter ahead or snoballs for an early spring.
The capybara trio made their prognostication unanimously, but not before carefully considering their options since both are really tasty. Initially, they seemed pretty set on gumbo weather staying around a while longer, but in the end…they decided snoball season is on the way! So spring is just around the corner.
These three young capybara are following in the footsteps of their parents, who made the weather forecast last year. The pups are named Tiana, Charlotte, and Louis, after characters in the New Orleans-set Disney film “Princess and the Frog.” They can be seen in the Jaguar Jungle River’s Edge along with their parents, and soon with their five baby siblings.
