Audubon Zoo’s three adorable capybara pups now have names! The pups are two-and-a-half months old and have been behind-the-scenes with their mom “Turkey” and dad “Sequoia”.

The capybara pups have been given names suitable for both their hometown and their personalities: Charlotte, Louis, and Tiana.

The youngsters are named for three of the main characters in Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog”, which was inspired by famous New Orleans chef Leah Chase.

Their animal care team has been watching the youngsters grow and develop and say their names are reflective of the pups’ personalities. Charlotte is the outgoing leader of the sibling group, Tiana is a little shy, but becoming more confident all the time, and brother Louis is a bit of a mama’s boy, and happily follows along with his sisters.

The pups and their parents will soon be visible to guests at the Zoo’s Jaguar Jungle River’s Edge exhibit.
