Beloved Zoo Train Returns to Audubon Zoo
All aboard! Audubon Zoo is excited to announce the return of its beloved Zoo train as the Audubon Wonders of Nature Express, offering guests a fun and relaxing way to explore the Zoo.
Passengers will once again enjoy a narrated, scenic loop featuring views of major Zoo landmarks, lush landscapes, and animal habitats along the way.
The train made its inaugural run on Thursday, August 20, 2026 with special guest passengers from Manning Family Children’s and the “All Aboard” call from guest conductor and legendary New Orleans musician Kermit Ruffins.
The train has long been a favorite for generations of Zoo visitors, and its return marks the beginning of a refreshed experience with a new name, new look, and new feel. While the experience has been updated, guests can still enjoy all day access to the narrated ride and memorable views that have made the train a beloved part of any Zoo visit.
"The return of the train is something we've been looking forward to sharing with our community," said Daine Appleberry, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Audubon Zoo & Park. "For many, riding the train is a cherished tradition, and we're thrilled to welcome both longtime guests and first-time visitors aboard for a new adventure at Audubon Zoo."
Audubon Wonders of Nature Express returns as Audubon Zoo continues to enhance experiences for guests with world-class animal habitats, engaging educational opportunities, and unforgettable family adventures.
Audubon Wonders of Nature Express will operate seven days a week and is available for $5.00 for Audubon All-Access or Zoo-Only Members and $6.50 for non-Members. Guests can purchase train tickets at the Zoo’s front gate, Membership Window, or directly at the train ticket booth.
