Dragons and Other Mythical Creatures Coming to Audubon Zoo
Creatures that live in lore and legend, inspire stories, and spark imaginations are coming to Audubon Zoo this month.
Dragons and Other Mythical Creatures is an all-new experience that brings more than 60 life-like creatures together in one place. Guests can stroll and surround themselves with dragons, unicorns, trolls, and other creatures and learn about how some of these creatures actually originated with real life animals.
Seven different dragons are depicted including dragons from China, Thailand, and Europe. The largest is nearly 20-feet-long! Other fantastic creatures that come to life in this exciting new exhibit include:
· A 14-foot-tall depiction of the thunderbird from Native American lore
· Cerberus, the three-headed dog
· Griffin that stands more than eight feet tall
· Giant Cyclops
· Quetzalcoatl – the feathered serpent of Aztec lore
· Multiple unicorns and their winged relation, the Alicorn
· The famed Loch Ness Monster, 20-feet long and eight-feet tall
· Moon Rabbit from East Asian and Native American folklore
· Specter Moose, a mysterious cryptid on Maine
“These mythical creatures are sure to engage our guests with stories of their origins, life-like movements, and connections to our Audubon animals,” said Daine Appleberry, Audubon Zoo’s Senior Vice President of Operations. “This experience is perfect for all ages. There are small creatures up to really giant ones that are sure to transport our guests to a mythical realm right here inside Audubon Zoo.”
Youngsters can enjoy extra activities including dragon-themed all-terrain vehicles and walking dragon rides. Guests are welcome to don their own costumes to join in the fun!
A special combination ticket that includes Zoo admission and entry to Dragons and Other Mythical Creatures is available. Tickets for Dragons and Other Mythical Creatures are $8 for Audubon members.
This fantastical experience opens Friday, September 19, 2025 and will disappear into the mist after January 11, 2026.
