Woldenberg Park Nominated as One of Nation's Best Riverwalks
If you have ever strolled along the Mississippi riverfront and enjoyed the views, breezes, and green space, you know Woldenberg Riverfront Park is a true gem for New Orleans. This beautiful park is considered one of the country’s best, and once again has gained recognition in the annual 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards from USA Today. This year it has again been nominated for the nation’s top riverwalk.
Last year, Woldenberg Riverfront Park finished second in the voting for the most popular riverwalk in the country. Coincidentally, that was also the first year it was nominated. Woldenberg Riverfront Park opened in 1989, and features 14 acres of grass, trees and walkways that allow the public to enjoy views of the Mighty Mississippi.
It is one of the many parks operated by Audubon Nature Institute, Audubon Aquarium and Audubon Insectarium are located inside the park, and it also hosts numerous festivals yearly, providing a beautiful backdrop for those events.

Sawaya, Audubon Nature Institute President, CEO and L. Ronald Forman Chair in Wildlife Conservation. “Being considered one of the top riverfront parks in the nation is a tremendous honor for our entire city.”
Woldenberg Park will undergo a major expansion soon, expanding the park from Spanish Plaza two more miles to connect with Crescent Park, creating one of the largest contiguous riverfront parks in the country. Known as “Riverfront for All”, the transformational project begins construction this spring.
